Welcome to Alzheimers New Zealand, Dr Meg Spriggs!

We are thrilled to announce that Meg is the new Dementia Friendly Senior Advisor for all of New Zealand, and she’ll be based in Dunedin.

Meg completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology at The University of Otago and a PhD at The University of Auckland alongside the Auckland Dementia Prevention Research Clinic and Brain Research New Zealand.

Meg then moved to London and spent 4 years as a dedicated mental health researcher at Imperial College. Now, despite growing up in Tāmaki Makaurau, Meg’s passion for the great outdoors led her to settle in Otepoti. Her love for hiking and all creative things reflects her vibrant and adventurous spirit.

We couldn’t be happier to have Dr Meg Spriggs on board, and we look forward to the positive impact she will bring in enhancing dementia friendly initiatives throughout New Zealand.

A Dementia Friend learns about dementia and simple ways to help people living with dementia. Being a Dementia Friend doesn’t have to take lots of your time – helping can be as simple as being kind and helpful to people during your day, thinking about how you communicate, or dropping around for a cuppa and a chat with someone living with dementia. Simple, small actions really do help!
