Keeping in Touch Volunteer
A key part of Alzheimers Otago’s service is supporting the care partners of people with dementia mate wareware. We work to lend a listening ear; help you understand dementia and make sure you can access the right services and support. We do our best to keep in touch with our care partners regularly, but sometimes we are not able to reach out to everyone as regularly as we would like to.
Our Keeping in Touch Volunteer will have a small group of clients who they will call regularly just to check in and see how things are going. Our volunteers will be able to listen to any concerns and offer reassurance and some general advice. If you need extra support, our volunteers will alert your Community Educator and make sure they get in touch with you as soon as possible. Our volunteers are interviewed by the Alzheimers Otago team to make sure they have an understanding of dementia and are suitable to be in contact with our clients. They are police vetted and have received training from Alzheimers Otago.
If you would like to receive regular contact from one of our volunteers, please reach out and let us know or if you do not wish to hear from our Keeping in Touch volunteer, please let us know.
